Andrew C. Burns

CEO and Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Burns has over 35 years of experience in the corporate finance and investment management industries. Before co-founding Hamilton Point, he served as Chief Investment Officer of Strategic Investment Advisors, Inc., a firm managing over $500 Million in assets. Previously he was an investment banker providing merger, acquisition, and public offering services to corporations located in the Southeast. He writes an Investment Newsletter known for its independent, prescient view of market conditions.

Mr. Burns serves on both the Alumni Council and Town Gown Fund of Hamilton College. He volunteers locally with Habitat For Humanity through their CEO Build program and is a member of Habitat’s finance committee.  He is a member of the East Chapel Hill Rotary as well as a member of the Entrepreneurs for Durham Nativity School group. Previously, he served on the boards of a Hospice, The United Way, and E.C.R. International.

Richard S. Woods, CFA, CPWA®


Mr. Woods has over 15 years of experience in the corporate finance and investment industries and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Before co-founding Hamilton Point, he served as a Senior Manager of Finance & Deal Analysis for CNN Worldwide. Prior to that, he worked for a mezzanine investment firm and as an investment banker providing mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance advisory services to corporations located in the Southeast.

Rick is on the Board of the Methodist Home for Children. He has volunteered with the Inter-Faith Council Community Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and serves on the Advisory Board for the Applied Investment Management Program at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. He has previously been involved with Children’s HopeChest and Carolina Cross Connection.

Nathan G. Byrd, CFA, CFP®

Vice President, Advisor

Mr. Byrd has over 8 years of experience in investment management.  Before joining Hamilton Point in 2013, Mr. Byrd worked at Altrius Capital Management as a Portfolio Manager, co-managing a mutual fund and several separate account investment strategies.  Prior  to that, he was a Portfolio Manager for Wachovia Wealth Management, overseeing the investments for more than $800 million in private client assets.

Mr. Byrd volunteers locally as an Assistant District Governor for Rotary District 7710, as the Audit Committee Chair for the North Carolina Botanical Gardens, and as a Trustee for the Eagles Nest Foundation.

Tracy R. Davies


Mrs. Davies has over 10 years experience in financial services, providing institutional clients with operations, trading, and service expertise. Within the field, Mrs. Davies served a New York, NY based Private Wealth Management team at UBS Financial Services, Inc. and Morgan Stanley as an Investment Associate; more recently Mrs. Davies served a Chapel Hill based Wealth Management team as a Client Service Associate. Mrs. Davies began her financial career with Morgan Stanley’s Fixed Income division, where she served as a trading assistant on the structured products operations team. She obtained her NASD Series 7 General Securities Registered Representative License, Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law License and Series 31 Futures Managed Funds License while at Morgan Stanley.

Mrs. Davies is a member of the 100 Women in Finance chapter of North Carolina. She is an active volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and the University Presbyterian Church Preschool in Chapel Hill.

Martha H. Ford

Assistant Vice President, Operations

Ms. Ford has over 25 years of experience in the brokerage/financial services industry. Prior to joining Hamilton Point, she served as a Registered Sales Associate at Deutsche Bank Alex Brown, supporting three client advisors with over $200M in assets under management. She passed the FINRA Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law Exam) while working at DBAB. She earned the NASD Series 7 General Securities Registered Representative License and passed the Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent State Law Exam during her tenure at Wachovia where she served as the Investment Portfolio Accounting Manager, providing detailed accounting, management and regulatory information to over 300 downstream correspondent financial institutions.

Ms. Ford has previously served on the Board of Elders at her church and the SunGard User Advisory Committee.

Mr. Stephan has over 4 years of finance and investment industry experience.  Before joining Hamilton Point, he worked at Schneider Downs Wealth Management Advisors LP, where he supported operations and was an investment analyst.  His background also includes experience with Bank of New York Mellon where he was an account analyst.

Mr. Stephan enjoys being active and is an avid runner and soccer player.

Megan E. Tarrant

Associate, Operations and Communications

Mrs. Tarrant has over 7 years combined experience in public accounting and finance. Before joining Hamilton Point, she served as a Financial Analyst for Pace, a content marketing agency specializing in custom content solutions including print products, magazines, websites and interactive initiatives for some of the world’s premier brands. Previously, she managed the Sales and Use Tax Compliance practice of Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, a public accounting and advisory firm.

Mrs. Tarrant currently serves on the Carolina Young Alumni Leadership Council. She enjoys volunteering in her community and previously served the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties and the Junior League of Greensboro.
