Hamilton Point Welcomes Nathan Byrd to the Firm

March 2013

Hamilton Point welcomes Nathan Byrd, CFA to our team as Vice President of Research. Nate earned his B.S. in mathematical economics from Wake Forest in 2006 and MBA from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler school of business in 2011.

Andrew Burns, Chief Investment Officer, commented, “We met Nate when he completed an internship for us in 2010. He did a great job then, and we are pleased to now have him as a permanent member of our growing team.”

Prior to joining Hamilton Point, Nate worked as a portfolio manager for Altrius Capital Management, where he was responsible for co-managing a small cap value mutual fund and several separate account strategies.  He also authored the firm’s investment newsletter, blog, and institutional investor presentations.

During his time in the Kenan-Flagler MBA program, Nate was actively involved as portfolio manager for the student-run investment fund and as the VP of education for the investment club.  He also participated in the sustainability club Net Impact, including organizing and overseeing an internal case competition for sustainability-focused business plans designed by students.

Prior to business school, Nate worked for Wachovia Wealth Management as a Portfolio Manager responsible for private client assets of approximately $830 million.  He completed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation  exams in 2009.

Nate volunteers locally for Rotary International and as a board member and Regional Director for the non-profit CFA North Carolina Society.  He spends his spare time enjoying North Carolina’s outdoor activities, from bicycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway to diving wrecks off the coast.

Hamilton Point is a Chapel Hill-based registered investment advisor managing over $200 million for wealthy families and non-profits.
